Is brushing your teeth sustainable?
Lynda Sherman is a dental professional with more than 30 years of experience. She recently created a biodegradable, eco-friendly dental subscription box called Get Mouthy. Besides being a fantastic dental care product, everything inside the box is all-natural, chemical-free, and biodegradable.
As a passionate clinician specializing in childhood preventative dental care, she noticed how completely preventable tooth decay was still a leading cause of illness in children.
So, Lynda decided to create a non-profit organization called The Dental Oral Care Project. Its purpose is to help more children with tooth decay get the treatment they need and deserve. However, she faced a significant issue: how would she finance it?
Besides her passion for treating tooth decay, she also found another one in treating the pollution on our planet due to excessive plastic use. In Lynda's words:
"I have a nine-year-old daughter, and by the time she's 37, there'll be more plastic in the ocean than fish. So I wanted to find alternative ways to make an oral care box completely biodegradable and earth-friendly."
Get Mouthy donates a toothbrush kit to The Dental Oral Care Project for every oral care box purchased. So, you take care of your teeth, support the organization, and help the planet. Talk about a win-win!
Concerned by excessive plastic use in dentistry and its adverse effects on our environment, Lynda also decided to become a speaker and consultant. Today, Lynda helps dental professionals redesign their practices to become more sustainable while saving money in the process.
